Why Parents Choose Our Group Swimming Classes:

A Structured Learn to Swim Journey Built on Technique

Our structured Learn to Swim programme takes swimmers from their very first experience in the water through to advanced, technically refined swimming. Every stage is built around correct technique, ensuring long-term progression rather than short-term fixes.

  • This class is ideal for nervous beginners. Our teachers enter the water with swimmers, providing constant support while building basic water confidence. Lessons are fun and engaging, focusing on water control and developing trust in the aquatic environment.

  • This stage is for swimmers who can swim 5 metres independently on their front or back without support aids. Our qualified swimming teachers remain in the water to offer reassurance while continuing to develop confidence and control.

  • At this level, we focus on refining breathing technique, progressing towards lateral breathing with an arm-over recovery. Swimmers are introduced to dolphin kicking and begin learning breaststroke through structured, engaging sessions.

  • Drawing on our competitive swimming background, this is where we introduce key technical skills such as tumble turns and diving. Learning these early helps swimmers become more adaptable and removes the fear often associated with advanced techniques later on.

  • Stage 5 introduces all four strokes, including butterfly. We also incorporate essential survival skills such as treading water and calling for help, ensuring swimmers feel confident and capable in a range of situations.

  • At the final stages, swimmers refine all four strokes and develop advanced skills, including racing starts and Individual Medley transitions. Advanced tumble turns across all strokes are mastered, alongside a strong understanding of personal survival techniques.

Many swimmers across all stages, not just advanced levels, choose to complement their group lessons with additional private sessions. These “booster” lessons provide focused, one-to-one support to refine technique, build confidence, and accelerate progress where needed.

You can explore this option further on our dedicated page.

Supporting Progress with Booster Private Lessons

For swimmers who have completed Stage 7, our Pre-Club programme provides a clear pathway towards advanced swimming.

What sets our programme apart is our specialist focus on technique, an area often overlooked in traditional swimming clubs. This is why swimmers from competitive clubs across Essex regularly join our sessions to refine their skills.

What our Pre-Club sessions include:

  • Advanced starts, turns, and finishes

  • Timed swims to monitor progress

  • Gala preparation and race understanding

  • Detailed stroke refinement and efficiency work

If your child is serious about improving their swimming, this programme provides the technical foundation needed for long-term success.
